JOANNE BLANCHARD
Week 1: 18th January:
This week as a group we discussed ideas and potential designers. We individually researched for designers and decided to come back and gather all the research on designers and we would select one from the gathered collection. I looked at Min Wu, Peter Jenson and Fashion East and highlighted these ones in particular as they appeared as brands that have the potential to benefit from our project. I also created a critical path of our projects journey, which establishes the period in which we had allocated to complete specific elements of the campaign.
Week 2: 25th January:
This week, after looking at the rest of the group’s brands, we decided to run with menswear brand Bobby AbleyWe also took a trip to Whitworth museum to look at inspiration artwork, which we could relate to and use within our project.
Week 3: 1st February:
This week after deciding our campaign would take a twist on nostalgia, I conducted some primary research by looking at children toys, as many of Bobby Ableys collections relate to children’s Disney/cartoon characters. After discussing the potential output of a game, I also looked at some children’s games which are included in this primary research and can be seen on the blog.
Week 4: 8th February:
This week we continued to discuss, plan and clarify how we would carry out our outputs. For individual work, I completed the Belbins team roles self-perception inventory task. My highest score fell into the Team Worker role, closely followed by the Monitor Evaluator. These roles in particular mean that I am able to analyse and evaluate problems and suggestions. This helped within the project in terms of what we were able to create, I was able to judge whether the ideas that were generated were realistic enough to complete within the given time frame. My other highest scored role was the team worker, which means that I am a supportive team member. In relation to our project, this meant I enjoyed helping other members of the team on elements that they were working on, in order to work effectively as an overall team.
Week 5: 15th February:
This week, after being inspired by looking around the Museum and the fact we had decided to run with a theme that had a twist on nostalgia, I decided to go and carry out some of my own primary research. I did this by walking around Manchester and taking photos of graffiti to relate to the theme of our project.
Week 6: 22nd February:
This week I focused on adding content onto the blog. I added the group tasks content onto the blog, which we completed in scheduled lectures, which included the tasks of Typography, and changing items of clothing. I assisted in creating a consumer profile board of our consumer’s demographic. As part of our project I also set up the Facebook page for our Campaign: to which we will add photo’s to from the other social channels, so they are integrated, in particular Twitter and Instagram. Furthermore, as a group we decided to visit the Manchester Art Gallery to look for any other inspiration that could be included into the photobook. Within Manchester Art Gallery there was one particular exhibition that we found highly relatable to our project: the “Clore Interactive Gallery “as it included elements that encouraged children’s play and interactivity.
Week 7: 29th February:
This week was the first stage in adding content onto the Facebook page, which included the first look at the characters in their original format. This content could then be integrated across the other social media channels that are Twitter and Instagram, which are controlled by other group members. I also uploaded content from the “Clore Interactive Gallery” from the visit to Manchester’s Art Gallery onto Facebook.
Week 8: 7th March:
This week I used Photoshop to colour in one of the cartoon characters by giving him his own personality and distinct character. I also focused on adding content onto the blog – in particular, all the primary research we had gathered as a group to date. I also featured more content onto the Facebook page, which included the digitalised version of G-Bear.
Week 9: 14th March:
This week I assisted in the development of the blog by adding the remaining content of primary research and the development of our outputs. I also assisted in the development of the comic strips by adding photos, speech and the comic text and getting them ready to be uploaded to the blog. Also, I focused on making sure the Facebook page was up to date and relevant in terms of content, as well as being integrated with the other social media pages. The Facebook page featured each of the collections from Bobby Abley and the development process of the characters, which shows each stage of their creation. I also included a sneak-peek of the comic strip onto the Facebook page as well as the new QR Coded G-Bear which was posted around Manchester in the hope that passers-by would take a picture of G-Bear and upload it to their Social Media and tag our page in it. From this we got our first post of the QR Coded bear, which can be seen on our Facebook Social Media page.
