We went to Whitworth Art Gallery to look for inspirational art work that we could take elements of, which we could interpret into our project.

We looked into the Graffiti around Manchester as inspiration to relate to our Comic Book narratives and drawing styles. The uses of colour and their originality emphasise each piece of artwork which is how we wish to portray our own comic strips.

We visitied Manchester Art Gallery to gain inspiration from its art work which we could use for our campgaign. It featured an aspect called the Clore Interactive Gallery which encouraged childs play and helped influence our concept of nostalgia.

BEANO AND DANDY COMICS

VIZ

We looked at Viz as another Comic for inspiration and knowledge into how to lay out our own Comic strips. We also wanted to inherit a sense of adult humour into our Comics which Viz is best known for.

CHILDRENS TOYS

As our key theme for this project was nostaligia we initially looked at childrens toys because this relates closely to Bobby Abley and his love of Childrens Characters. We hoped to take inspiration from these items and develop these ideas further.

DESIGNER board

From resesearching Bobby Abley we have created a Customer Profile Board to portray the typical Bobby Abley consumer. This includes his lifestyle, where he lives, where he works, and his hobbies.

We constructed Primary Research by looking into existing Comics to gain an understanding of how we would present our own. The Beano and the Dandy are childhood classics of our target audience therefore following a similar styles would enhance the idea of nostalgia.

Customer profile board

This board reflects our chosen contemporary designer Bobby Abley through his past collections and inspirations. He is a London based designer who creates quirky Mens Fashion, which emphasises his unique charm through nostalgic and playful imagery.
